SILKIES:
They are marsupials. They have pouches! In their ears! A female can have two offspring at a time, one in each ear. They can also become pregnant at different times! So one joey can be significantly older than the other. A joey will stay in it's mother's pouch for 16 months at which time it then transfers to the father's pouch for another 16 months until they are old enough, and trained by their father's, to fend for themselves and to hunt and defend themselves and their younger siblings. Twins are very rare, but they do happen. Triplets or more are unheard of.
GENDERS:
There are both male and female Silkies.
SIZE:
They are very small, males no more than 18" in height and females 14".
EARS:
Ear length is dependent on gender, males have the longest ears and females have the shortest.
EYES:
Eye color is metallic. Silver, gold, copper, and bronze. Silver is the rarest and so on down the line, with bronze and copper being the most common. As a Silkie ages, their eyes take on the appearance of aged metal.
The second set of eyes under the primary eyes are for low light/no light vision. They detect heat and cold. All secondary eyes are bright green.
FUR:
Fur is short, thick , dense, and extremely soft! Males have darker and more earthy tones to their fur while females are brightly colored to attract mates.
PATTERNS:
Male Silkies have simple and commonly occurring patters, most common being those of a fox or a tabby cat.
Females can have simple and elegant patterns or they can be random and garish.
BEHAVIOR:
Silkies are social creatures of great intelligence, they have language, written and spoken, artisans, specialists and criminals just like any sentient species.
ENVIRONMENT:
They live in homes they build from large trees, hollowing them out on the inside to create rooms and tunnels in elaborate sequences. Some Silkies live in mountainsides where they instead hollow out the rock over generations to create interlinked rooms and tunnels. This has been made easier with inventions such as drills and the like.
MAGIC:
Some of them can do magic, some of them can't. If they can they usually have a higher position in their society and are taken from their family at a very young age to train in the control of their abilities.
ELDERS:
Elders are looked up to because their species does not typically live very long. (Have lots of predators) A 60 year old Silkie is very old indeed. But if they do live to be that old, they can live a very long time, upwards of 200 - 300 years before they really start to show their age, by their eyes taking on the age patina and their hair and fur going white.
